We, residents and community members of San Diego County, oppose the proposed Otay Hills Quarry and Inert Landfill and the permitting of any mining operations in proximity to the vital Otay Open Space Preserve, Otay Mountain Wilderness, San Diego National Wildlife Refuge, and the state Otay Mountain Ecological Reserve.
The project will damage the environment, degrade public health, severely impact wildlife and destroy critical habitat.
The project also fails to recognize the impacts to refugees, immigrants and juveniles detained at the nearby detention facilities.
We urge our public officials in San Diego County to deny the permit for the Otay Hills Quarry and Inert Landfill.
